I am confused. Were in the constitution is the right given to Congress to regulate sports. If their are drug problems, prosecute. If there is cheating, tell the fans that then NBA is more like the WWF then they expected. Sports have become entertainment. The only thing the Federal Government should do is remove the Anti-Trust exemption from sports. If deregulation is the mantra of the Government then remove the anti-trust exemption as it is a regulation. (And it would be fun to watch the owners squirm and shout about being so abused by the feds....)

I just happened to see a tape of the Lakers - Sacramento 2002 series. Why doesn't anyone look at these games ? You can draw your own conclusions, but Donaghy is clearly speaking the truth imho. I never even noticed at the time, it was so off everyones radar, and it's a great series with 2 great teams.
Still, in light of Donaghy's statements, some unusual stuff starts making sense, especially the last quarter of game 6. It's actually quite out in the open in that quarter.

can you imagine how different sacramento would be now if they would've won?

right after the final game..i emailed commissioner stern adn said "basketball is now up there with WWF" all fake.

Government needs to stay the heck out of sports except where that sport may violate a law and then, Congress needs to stay the heck out of sports and let law enforcement do its job.

The latest investigational panels are just another way for Congress to not actually get anything done.

The world of sports is apparantly full of dram these days.
I think an outside party needs to be introduced to monitor the goings ons of fixing games, performance enhancing drugs, professional sports players that need counciling to address money investments and to have legal representation if/when they land in jail for making it rain. But it shouldn't be Congress' job.
I'm tired of the attention of my representative being distracted to a 12 million dollar a year cry baby when I'm spending 20.00 a day to get to work.

Congress should assign or hire a special comitte to do nothing but work with prospors and the pro athletes. We have entirely too many other relevant problems without wondering if someone is fixing games. And if someone is so concerned about game fixing by illegal refs, they shouldn't be gambling anyway.
