The lesson here is not to minimize the homeowner's rights by siding with the little crooks, but to underscore that if you don't want to be shot to death in Texas...then don't unlawfully break into someone's house. Simple, really. The senselessness started - and ended - with the actions of the crooks, NOT of the homeowner. jeez. The lesson here is not to minimize the homeowner’s rights by siding with the little crooks, but to underscore that if you don’t want to be shot to death in Texas…then don’t unlawfully break into someone’s house. Simple, really.

The fact that you can execute a 13 year old for petty theft when you had so many other options (and hello, a shot in the back proves this) is a travesty of justice. Of course if you weren't all allowed to have guns in the good old US of A then this kind of thing wouldn't happen either.
