I beg to differ, I know exactly what it is like. I have severe Asthma, have been running 5k,10k and half marathons for years. When I was in Iraq, I have know idea what happend, but when I got back to the states I ended up with severe Asthma. I also do Muay Thai and a mix of other forms of fighting. I am no longer allowed in the ring since I donated a Kidney 6 years ago, but I still run and nothing will stop me. So I do know what it is like. I also have to remember to breath while I sleep. I just wanted you to know that there are several people who have this problem, but it is the people who give up that allow it to defeat them.
